Howe Baker International

Desalter Spare Parts

Howe Baker supplies replacement components for its electrostatic desalter and coalescer equipment — manufactured to the original design specifications to support continued reliable operation.

Overview

About This Service

Electrostatic desalters and coalescers contain a range of components subject to wear, chemical attack and periodic replacement as part of planned maintenance programmes. Key items include transformer-rectifier power supply units, electrode assemblies, high-voltage insulators, Teflon-bodied bushings and mixing valves.

Howe Baker supplies OEM replacement parts for its electrostatic desalter and coalescer systems. Parts are manufactured to original design specifications using specified materials — bushing and insulator components are supplied in Virgin Teflon rated to 347°F, with flange connections from 3" #150 through to 4" #300 to suit different vessel configurations. Electrode insulator kits (Types TEFC-1 through TEFC-7) are available for the full range of Howe Baker electrode assembly designs.

Where the original equipment documentation is not available on-site, Howe Baker can assist with parts identification from the unit serial number and equipment records. Spare parts orders can be combined with a Desalter Services engagement where commissioning support or performance optimisation is required alongside component replacement.

Common Requirements

Typical Situations This Service Addresses

Planned Maintenance Shutdown

Replacement of wearing components during scheduled turnarounds — electrode grids, insulators and mixing valve internals are typically assessed and replaced on a planned basis.

Transformer-Rectifier Failure

Electrical supply unit failure resulting in loss of electrostatic field and reduced separation performance. Replacement TR units are available for Howe Baker desalter models.

Electrode or Insulator Damage

Physical damage to electrode grids, stand-off insulators or high-voltage bushings following vessel inspection or operational fault investigation.

Mixing Valve Wear

Deterioration of mixing valve internals affecting wash water dispersion performance and crude-water contact. Replacement valve assemblies are available.

Interface & Level Instrument Replacement

Replacement of level gauges, interface controllers and associated instrumentation to maintain accurate control of desalter vessel level and water-oil interface.

Vessel Internal Refurbishment

Replacement of distributor pipe assemblies, water collection systems and internal structural components during major overhaul or revamp.
